Cinebox / thebox.tv A social enterprise based in Bolton bringing film screenings and production to local communities
About Us
thebox.tv (Bolton) CIC overview
thebox.tv(BOLTON) CIC is a Bolton based social enterprise established in 2009, and we are a Community Film Production Company set up to equip local, predominantly young people, with the ability to create their own short films and digital media. Participants in our project learn all aspects of the filmmaking process including scriptwriting, storyboarding, filming, sound and editing.
We work in conjunction with schools, youth groups, community groups, and local organisations such as the Octagon Theatre and Bolton at Home (Bolton's largest social housing provider) We also film various community events across Bolton, and deliver community cinema under the name 'Cinebox'.
We screen music documentaries in Manchester's Northern Quarter as part of the 'Twisted Reel' collective which includes music based website and Radio Show, 'Silent Radio' and are part of a wider network 'Sound Social' who produce music and cultural events in Bolton.
Cinebox overview
Cinebox is the Community Cinema wing of thebox.tv(BOLTON) CIC, a social enterprise based in Bolton, Greater Manchester.
A reaction to the lack of alternative programming in Bolton led to the creation of Cinebox, a space where local people can access more leftfield films whilst still sharing the communal cinema experience.
Previous screenings have included Ishiro Honda's 1954 cult classic Godzilla, to micro budget British film 8 Minutes Idle and a scratch and sniff screening of The Wicker Man.
