He Named Me Malala
directed by Davis Guggenheim
Malala is a young girl with a strong voice. Standing up for women’s education rights in her home country of Pakistan made her a target for the Taliban in 2012.
He Named Me Malala opens in cinemas on Friday 6 November. It tells the inspirational story of Malala Yousafzai who, after the Taliban tried to kill her for speaking out on behalf of girls' education, emerged as a leading advocate for children's rights and became the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.
In this interview with the Guardian, Malala said: “As our politicians are doing nothing for us, nothing for peace, nothing for education, I want to become prime minister of my country. To some people this seems too much – they feel you can’t dream that way, you must have a smaller dream. But sometimes it’s good to dream bigger. This is what I’ve been telling our world leaders: dream big, make your ambitions bigger.”
